Chapel

The construction of this remarkable building, designed by Nicolet's architect, Mr. David Deshaies, started in 1955. On August 15, 1965, the chapel was dedicated by Mgr. Albertus Martin, Bishop of Nicolet.

In this chapel dedicated to the Virgin of the Assumption, everything contributes to lifting the heart toward God. All elements draw attention to the ascension : the vertical lines, architecture, the warmth and the harmony of wood, the very soft indirect lighthing, the luminous stained glasses with unceasingly ascending drawing, statues with the aspect of weightlessness and the tabernacle, where the One who tends this ascension resides. The artist, Luce Scalabrini, SASV, was inspired by the Passion of Christ, evident in the play of colors and the designs which decorate this work of art.

The stained glass designed by Jeanne Vanasse, SASV, are nonfigurative and depicts the Assumption of Mary. By its ogival form, they suggest an upward movement accentuated by the unceasingly ascending drawings. The line plays contain surfaces, which become figurations in the shape of wings, clouds, birds or fish.
